Tullamore Musical Society Launch Night
There was a large attendance and great hype in the past week with Tullamore Musical Society launching their forthcoming production of Beauty & the Beast. The launch evening took place in the Tullamore Court Hotel at 8pm last Friday. The young hearts in all that attended shone as the production team for the classic Disney story were announced. With introductions given by the committee and chairperson Brian Gunning a informative night set the tone for the rest of the rehearsal season. Attendees had the opportunity to meet the committee and the production team for any queries they may have had. Audition pieces and music scores were available for Auditions that are currently taking place. Refreshments were generously supplied by the Tullamore Court Hotel. “The talent that Tullamore displayed last year for their production of the Hot Mikado really took me back†said Director Christine Scarry, “but above all else the community support, friendships and good times was most impressive.†Director Christine Scarry joined the Tullamore Musical Society’s Production team for the first time last year and produced a vibrant and extremely entertaining show. Her talents have led her to produce many shows across Ireland including directing Ireland’s most famous twinned duo Jedward in last year’s Olympia Panto. Christine also hails from a music background training many youngster and adults alike to follows their dreams in Musical Theatre. Christine has earned her way and has threaded the boards on many occasion singing with some of West end and Broadways biggest legends. Brian Gunning (Chairperson) and Joan Crehan (President) spoke to the group and thanked all who supported last year and throughout the years.†It is vital that we get the support year after year and we as a society can be proud of the community and their support throughout the seasons. Business’s and patrons in Tullamore, despite their own difficult financial circumstance, they have continued to support the society’s productions.â€The auditions took place on Sunday 05 September at 2.30pm with a large uptake. With a difficult decision to make on the cast, call-backs have been organised for Thursday 08 September. Announcements of the cast will take place on Friday. This will be announced in the coming weeks with contact being made to all schools in the area. The society will be seeking a suitable boy for the part of chip who can portray a lovable and innocent character. More details to follow.Musical rehearsals for chorus take place every Tuesday and Thursday evening at 8pm. The society welcomes all new members and those who wish to return.
